Service Description

1. What is Medication Evaluation for Genetic Psychotropic Testing? Medication evaluation refers to a comprehensive psychiatric assessment (An initial psychiatric evaluation must be completed ) for Psychotropic Testing. 2. What conditions can this test help with? The outcome of the genetic psychotropic test can support treatment options for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, PTSD, and other mental health conditions where medication is considered. 3. Is this test required for everyone? No. A psychiatric evaluation is conducted at your initial visit to determine if this test is appropriate and necessary based on your symptoms, treatment history, and current concerns. 4. Can I still try medication without Genetic Psychotropic testing? Yes. The test does not diagnose conditions or prescribe a specific medication but it is an optional tool among many. Your provider can still prescribe effective medications without it, based on clinical guidelines and your individual needs. 5. Which Genetic Psychotropic test do you use? The Genetic psychotropic test we use, here at Mindsense Serenity is the GeneSight Psychotropic test. This is a genetic psychotropic test that shows your healthcare provider how your genes may affect your outcomes with commonly prescribed mental health medications. The test provides personalized information about which medications may require dose adjustments, be less likely to work, or have an increased risk of side effects based on your genetic makeup. 4. Is the GeneSight test right for you? Has a mental health medication failed you in the past? Is your current mental health medication not working? Does your mental health medication cause unwanted side effects? Then, this test may be right for you. 5. What is the GeneSight test process? Step 1 : The GeneSight test sample is collected by a simple cheek swab. Step 2 : Your sample is sent to the GeneSight lab for analysis and your provider will typically receive your results in about two days. Step 3 Your healthcare provider will review your results with you at your next appointment. 6. How much does the GeneSight test cost? Many insurance plans, including Medicare, often cover the entire or a significant portion of the cost of the test.
