Many of us live in a “constant go” mindset. Our bodies may be still, but our minds never stop.Slowing down is not laziness — it is a strategy, and a therapeutic skill.
Try this simple practice:
The 3-Part Slowdown Method
1. Notice
Ask: “What is my mind doing right now?”Racing? Planning? Worrying? Replaying?
2. Interrupt
Take one slow inhale and blink intentionally. This creates a pause in the mental momentum.
3. Redirect
Focus on one calming action:
Sip water
Stretch your hands
Look out a window
Touch something textured
Step outside for 30 seconds
When practiced regularly, slowing down becomes a form of inner leadership. You learn to guide your mind instead of being pulled by it.
